What is MAC QUARTERLY

MAC Quarterly (Movement Across Color) is a publication that has been put together with the wonderful support from it's readers, to be dedicated to highlighting the best of contemporary fine art and photography in the USA and beyond.

We live once in this beautiful yet mysterious world and through every individual journey, there is always a picture of a story to tell and share with the rest of the world. Unlike many other photography publications we tend to focus less on the equipment but more on the technique, the inspiration and the message contained within each photograph.

4.12.2010 - Photograph your country

Photograph your country
There are few things that evoke emotion so quickly as a beautiful photograph. It might be a grinning child whose eyes show pure joy. It might be a setting sun behind a field of wheat waving in the evening breeze. It might be a busy city scene in some place like new york or london or even a thistle.

A simple photo of a flower or even a thistle.... points out something that we should all already know: There's beauty all around us in the country and mostly wherever you look you will find something of beauty. It is everywhere and we should stop and take notice. ive been down those country roads and I know it is beautiful there. I've been to many towns and cities where i find something equally as beautiful. I look forward to the day when i'll be able to do that again and travel down some country roads or through a golden archway of trees.

In other words, show us what's beautiful to you in your life. For the rest of you... the clock is ticking. Send in your photos and you just might find yourself printed in our next publication. Good luck!

Ideas and Inspiration...

IDEAS AND INSPIRATION – things to write about.. pictures to take
Take a photo or write about someone that you've never met on the street, in a mall, in a restaurant, etc. - that looks interesting to you or is doing something interesting. They cannot be posed .

Cell Phone - With cell phones getting more advanced by the day, they sometimes can take very good pictures. It's all about the photographer right?

White on White - One of the hardest things to do is to control white-on-white within an image. While the image need not be completely white by any means (this isn't about high-key imagery), it must effectively include overlapping whites to be considered a viable contender.

View from a Window - Find an interesting window with an interesting view and introduce us.

A single Tree- We've all seen them standing alone on a landscape of beauty. Make the photo or writing about that single tree.

Things with Wings - Airplanes, birds, bees. Anything that has wings, in flight or stationary.

On Safari - Most of the world's animal protective institutions are desperately in need of our support. Many animal species, while we would not wish a captive existence upon them, now exist only outside of the wild through the efforts of the conservationists who make the animals' continued existence the primary goal of their work. Quantifiable numbers are being re-introduced to the wild through those same breeding and husbandry efforts.

In the News - Any local news happenings. Fires, car wrecks, new buildings, community events. You know: anything they would show on the 6 o'clock news.

Love - Any picture or story of someone showing their love for someone else. that someway portrays love to the eye of the viewer. Whether it be a hug, kisses or elderly sitting on a bench together, spread the love.

Write or take pictures to display fun fairs/carnivals. Any images taken at funfair. Rides, excitements, candid shots of people enjoying the funfair atmosphere.

Bookshelves - What's on your bookshelf? I see an unused can of furniture polish on mine, just for starters! Is it organized or a mess? –You can probably tell what mine is
